Solar Eclipse Beanbag Toss
Objective
The objective of the game is for the teams to toss beanbags into the hoop, representing the sun, aiming to create a solar eclipse.
Set-Up
Gather the children and set up the game area with hoops placed approximately 8-10 yards away from two cones.
Divide the children into two teams and have them line up behind each cone.
How to Play
Each student takes turns tossing a beanbag into the hoop. Once all beanbags have been thrown, the winning team is determined by how well they filled the hoop, with the least amount of empty space visible.
Variations & Progressions
Add a Time Limit:
To add excitement and urgency to the game, introduce a time limit. Set a specific duration for the game, such as 5 or 10 minutes.
Bean Bag Retrieval:
If a student tosses the beanbag outside the hoop, allow them to retrieve it and have another attempt quickly. This ensures that all students stay engaged and have multiple opportunities to contribute to their team's success.
Incorporate Running Action:
After tossing the beanbag, the student must complete a running circuit around the hoop (sun) before returning to the line. They need to tag the next person in line before that person can throw the next beanbag. This adds a fun and active element to the game, encouraging movement and teamwork among the players.
