Shooting Stars
Objective:
Students attempt to collect as many cones as possible within a time limit. The winning team has the most cones/points
Set-up:
Use a basketball court
2-3 basketballs
Lay out cones or dots around the court
Use tall cones as markers for the starting line
Form 2-3 teams depending on class size and line them up at half-court behind their starting cones
How to Play:
Start: The first person in line will dribble the basketball to any cone or spot of their choosing and shoot from there
If they make the shot, they pick up the spot or cone, dribble back, pass the ball to their teammate, and return to the line
If they miss, students must grab the rebound, dribble back, pass to their teammate, and return to the line
The team with the most spots collected after 3-4 minutes wins the game
Progression:
Spots further from the basket outside of the ‘D’ can count as 3 points
Have students dribble with their off-hand
Two students can go out at the same time to two different cones. Once one student has had an attempt, he can then throw the ball to the other student who also has an attempt
