Pizza Party
Objective:
Students attempt keep their pizza from being knocked over and gain points.
Set-up:
Coned area on the grass (30x30+)
Each student has a dome
Students MUST HOLD THEIR PIZZA AT ARMS LENGTH.
How to Play:
Start: Each student ("Chef") holds a disc or dome ("Pizza") with their palms facing upwards.
Movement: Chefs move around the designated playing area, attempting to knock the "pizzas" out of other Chefs' hands.
Transformation: If a Chef loses their "pizza," they become a "Pizza Monster."
Pizza Monsters' Role: Pizza Monsters then try to knock the "pizzas" out of the remaining Chefs' (and other Pizza Monsters) hands.
Winning: The last Chef with a "pizza" remaining wins, or the Chef with a pizza when a time limit is reached wins one point.
Safety Points - Important:
Controlled Movements:
Emphasize the importance of controlled movements and avoiding excessive force when attempting to knock "pizzas" out of hands. They MUST NOT SLAP, ONLY KNUDGE the domes from other students hands.
Discourage pushing, shoving, or grabbing.
No students can PROTECT their Pizza and MUST hold it at arms length.
Awareness:
Remind students to be aware of their surroundings and avoid swinging their arms wildly, which could lead to accidental contact with other players' faces or eyes.
Remind them to not throw the pizza's.
Progression: Extra Toppings
Topping Dispensers: Select students to act as "Topping Dispensers" and position them around the perimeter of the playing area. These students hold extra discs/domes ("Pizza Toppings").
Collecting Toppings: Chefs can run to the Topping Dispensers to collect additional "Pizza Toppings."
Stacking Toppings: Chefs carefully stack the collected toppings on top of their original "pizza."
Transformation: If a Chef's stacked "pizza" is knocked out of their hands, they become a "Pizza Monster."
Timed Play & Scoring: Play continues for a set time limit. At the end of the time, Chefs still holding their "pizza" receive points based on the number of "Pizza Toppings" they have successfully stacked. The Chef with the most points wins.
Variations
Safe Kitchens:
Introduce hula hoops scattered throughout the playing area.
These hoops act as "safe kitchens" where Chefs are temporarily immune to being knocked out. Decide the length of time they are allowed to stay in. Monsters cannot guard the safe kitchens.
Elimination Mode:
Instead of transforming into Pizza Monsters, Chefs are eliminated from the game if their "pizza" is knocked out of their hands.
This creates a more intense and fast paced game.
Shrinking Kitchen:
Gradually reduce the size of the playing area as the game progresses.
This forces Chefs into closer proximity, increasing the challenge and excitement.
The Game Encourages
This game encourages balance and spatial awareness.
This is a great variation of any tag game that requires balance and technique as opposed to speed and endurance.
