Tournament Soccer

Set-Up

A small-sided soccer game is great for children. Having a smaller field with fewer players than the usual full-sided game, the children are more engaged and have more touches on the ball.

Set up two fields side-by-side. Approximately 40 x 20 yards in size (see image below).

Create 3 to 4 teams depending on the number of players. Play 8-10 minute games. Play a semi-final and final. If three teams play, each team plays the other once (play shorter timed games).

How to Play

Each team attempts to score in the opposition’s goal. If the ball goes out of play (the area), students can either kick the ball into the field, or they can throw the ball in from over the head (a throw-in). You can play with or without a goalkeeper.
