Kichi
Set-Up
Set out an area with a halfway line and two end zones or bases. Create two teams that can be distinguished apart (wearing colored pennies).
How to Play
The aim of the game is for one team to get across to the end zone or Kichi (bases in Japanese) located on the opposite side of the area.
Students run into the other team's territory to reach their base. If they get tagged by an opposing player, they must freeze and stay where they got tagged.
Students can become ‘unfrozen’ if a teammate can get across to tag them. Both players get a free pass to return to their original half if this happens.
The winning team is the first team to get all their players across into their base.
Variation
Add time constraints if it takes too long for the game to finish.
On the command ‘KISHI,’ all the students can run to their base without the fear of getting tagged. Even the frozen players. Whoever gets all their players into their base first wins the game.
