Follow The Leader

Set-Up

Set up three different color cones with varying dodgeballs of color on top.

Objective

Players follow the coach’s movements and try to stay in line while avoiding penalties.

Rules

Line Formation: The coach lines up the students in a straight line behind them.

  1. Coach Movement:

    • The coach quickly moves behind a different cone.

    • Students must quickly follow and get in line behind the new cone.

  2. Fakes and Lives:

    • The coach may pretend to move.

    • If a student moves when the coach fakes, they lose a life.

    • Each student has 3 lives.

  3. Elimination:

    • If a student loses all 3 lives, they are out of the game.

    • The last student to line up behind the coach loses a life.

  4. Winning: The game continues until all but one student remains or until time is up. The student with the most lives left is the winner.

Winning: The game ends when a player gets four bean bags in a row. The game is a draw if the entire board fills up and no one has four in a row.

Variations

Directional Changes: Instead of moving only to cones in front, the coach can change directions (e.g., move sideways, backward). Students must quickly adjust and follow the new path while maintaining the line.

Obstacle Course: Add obstacles like cones, hurdles, or ropes that students must navigate while following the coach. This adds an element of agility and focus.

Memory Challenge: Before moving, the coach can call out a color, number, or keyword students must remember. After a few rounds, the coach asks the students what was called out, adding a memory component.

Role Reversal: Allow students to take turns being the coach. This empowers them while allowing them to strategize and add twists to the game.

Incorporate Skills or Exercises: Instead of just running, students must complete a specific action (e.g., jumping jacks, push-ups) before getting back in line. The coach can change the required exercise each round.

Point System: Introduce a point system where students earn points for being the first in line behind the coach and lose points for being last or moving on a fake. The student with the most points wins.

These variations can keep the game fresh and challenging while targeting skills like agility, coordination, memory, and focus!
